Probably one of my favorite flower images !
I love the dreamy look, the subject isolation and the vibrant colours.
In order to achieve this unique look, I combined a long lens with a wide aperture (which controls the amount of light entering the lens), allowing me to create a very shallow depth of field. By placing my subject—the taller tulip in this shot—right in front of a row of pink flowers, I was able to separate it from the background thanks to the out-of-focus blur and the contrast in colors.
To further isolate my subject, I positioned yellow tulips in the foreground, allowing them to fall nicely out of focus and subtly hide the other flowers that share the same focal plane as my main subject. This technique makes the tall tulip the only flower in sharp focus !
